Capsule Hotel Switzerland
The first Capsule Hotel in Switzerland opened in Lucerne back in 2018. Subsequently, it has certainly shown that the hotel concept can establish itself in the travel market in Switzerland. After four years of operation and specially developed Swiss Capsule™, Europe’s largest Capsule Hotel was opened directly at Zurich Airport, situated opposite Check-in 1.
Capsule Comfort Redefined
Capsule Hotels minimize the sleeping space to the essential but maximize the whole travel experience. To maximize the experience for the guests a number of design themes play a key role. Already in the capsule hotel – alpine garden at the airport in Zurich, the design theme “national monuments” played an important role. Today, the hotel is differentiated not only by the sleeping experience but also by the unique design within the entire hotel.
The comfort for the new capsule hotel – chapter lucerne is redefined by allowing guests not only to write their own travel stories, but also to retreat into a cozy atmosphere full of stories and exchange with other like-minded people.
Unique Design Theme
The new capsule hotel, as suggested by its name and design theme, will write another chapter in the history of Capsule Hotels. We plan to distribute the 79 capsules into 5 rooms, each named after a world-famous book. This means that characters like Pippi Longstocking, Peter Pan, or Alice in Wonderland will come to life in Lucerne. Guests won’t just stay in a capsule; they’ll immerse themselves in a story. Additionally, we will equip the common area with a small bar and various seating options, creating an inviting space for relaxation and social interaction.
We drew inspiration from the famous Cleveland Museum of Art to establish the concept and design theme of the new capsule hotel in Lucerne: the ‘artistic library.’ This theme not only promises an unforgettable experience for our new guests but also pays homage to the historical uniqueness of Lucerne.

We defined and planned the concept for the new hotel in spring 2023, ready for execution. However, before we can begin construction on the new hotel, we must navigate various official processes and define the exact execution plans. In July, we submitted the building application, seeking approval from the city of Lucerne and all relevant authorities. In addition to all the preparations for the future construction, we also established a new company, Capsule Hotel – Chapter Lucerne.
Furthermore, the new Capsule Hotel in the city of Lucerne opens another chapter in the history of capsule services. Building upon the experiences from our last project at Zurich Airport, a unique design theme has once again been developed, one that seamlessly integrates with the city of Lucerne and its surroundings. Guests from around the world will have the opportunity to retreat to a safe place and connect with others at an affordable price. Planning for the new hotel is in full swing, ready to make history.
