Can the usable space of a hotel room be reduced by 80%? Yes, we have done it! Why do our guests still have a great sleeping experience in our sleeping capsules and rate us with 8.3 points on Booking.com? To understand, let us take you to our “flagship” capsule hotel at Zurich Airport. On a little less than 1100 m2, 144 people sleep here in capsules and relax on 80 seats in the “Open Zone”. There we serve pizza, beer and breakfast. At the co-working workstations, the digital nomads hunch over their laptops until late at night. On the comfortable armchairs, two friends put their heads together and the airport police get their much-needed caffeine shot at three in the morning.
Swiss quality capsules
How do we now reduce the usable space of a hotel room? First, we have integrated the majority of a conventional hotel room, into our “Open Zone”. We don’t have a mini bar in the room, but everyone has the possibility to network with people from all over the world. Second, with our self-designed Swiss CapsulesTM we have minimized the sleeping space but maximized it for a restful sleep. With the sleeping capsules we save an enormous amount of space. In fact it is about 80%! That this has an impact on a price reduction per night is self-explanatory.
Capsule hotels are not only a space saving solution but also operationally more efficient than any traditional hotel. Since we can accommodate more guests in a smaller space it also helps to increase the revenue per square meter.
