Why Design is Essential for a Hotel

In the world of modern hospitality, the hotel experience is no longer limited to a comfortable bed or a scenic view from the window. It’s all about creating an unforgettable journey for every guest, from the moment they create their booking to the second they check out. One essential part to create an immersive journey is the design theme of the hotel. Let us take you on a journey where you dive in the creative fusion of our new project “capsule hotel – chapter lucerne”.

Library Meets Art

In all of our capsule hotels, we deliberately allow different design world collide. At Zurich Airport, the beautiful Swiss mountains merge with the raw ambiance of industrial halls, creating a very special, warm and welcoming vibe. And now, our new project “chapter lucerne” takes this blend to a whole new level. It’s all about the “Artistic Library” theme, where art and books come together to create a full story.

Designing an Unforgettable Hotel Adventure

Some of you might be wondering, how can they come up with such extraordinary design themes, and what’s the connection to capsule hotel?

Well, our goal is to create a truly unique hotel concept. We’ve already proven this with the first capsule hotel in Switzerland. However, providing guests with a simple place to sleep is no longer sufficient to ensure their comfort. While sleeping in a Swiss Capsule TM is already an adventure in itself, we firmly believe it’s essential to offer guests a cozy, homely atmosphere, and to immerse them in an unforgettable world.

Meet Peter Schiffhauer, our Co-Founder and Design Maestro. He is the creative genius behind these extravagant and unique design themes. For the capsule hotel – alpine garden, he let his imagination run wild, bringing the Swiss alpine garden directly to the airport. With the capsule hotel – chapter lucerne, he is raising the bar for design enthusiasts and leaving everyone in awe.

Capsule Comfort Redefined

Capsule Hotels minimize the sleeping space to the essential but maximize the whole travel experience. To maximize the experience for the guests a number of design themes play a key role. Already in the capsule hotel – alpine garden at the airport in Zurich, the design theme “national monuments” played an important role. Today, the hotel is differentiated not only by the sleeping experience but also by the unique design within the entire hotel.

The comfort for the new capsule hotel – chapter lucerne is redefined by allowing guests not only to write their own travel stories, but also to retreat into a cozy atmosphere full of stories and exchange with other like-minded people.

The Creative Fusion

The “Artistic Library” design theme is set in stone. Now, it’s all about implementing it correctly and considering the unique characteristics of the location. After several brainstorming meetings, a captivating narrative emerged, weaving together the world of design and the new hotel.

Inspiring characters from various books come to life within the dusty confines of a library. In the 5 dormitories, each named after one of these characters, an immersive experience awaits our guests. At chapter lucerne, guests literally dive into the stories and books of these characters and fellow travelers, sharing their unique experiences along the way.

In the heart of the library (common area), a local graphic designer and a comic artist are about to bring life into its traditional structure. Here, the collision of new and old forms an exquisite fusion. The serene narrative is set in motion, creating the desired ambiance, and as the evening descends, a meticulously planned lighting effect gently awakens the library from its slumber. The main characters from the books stealthily emerge from their sleeping quarters, gathering by the bookshelves in the lounge.

Fusing different desing worlds

Besides the entire ambiance we are carfting, it’s equally important to provide the right materials for implementation. Heavy and luxurious materials like walnut wood, leather, and stone slabs complemented by rich wall colors of purple and green, set the stage for the library. Books and cozy corners beckon you to linger a while.

We consciously work with the substantial, almost bulky materials of a traditional lirary, infusing them with the lightness of stories like “Pipi Longstocking” or “Peter Pan”. True to our motto: “Fusing different design worlds.

We are pleased to be able to offer our guests a very special experience of mysticism, cosiness and discovery in the “artistic library”. A new chapter of design, in the history of capsule hotel,  is opening in Lucerne.

Join us on this enchanting journey where tradition meets innovation, and where beloved literary figures come alive against the backdrop of our unique library.
